Alisha impresses on Formula Winter Series debut

Alisha Palmowski powered through her debut weekend in the Formula Winter Series despite being beset by technical problems in Portugal.

The 18-year-old speed demon from Glossop was her usual consistent self in finishing 14th, 14th and 13th in the three races, despite qualifying further down the grid for each outing.

She was also the second-highest placed female driver, coming in just behind 21-year-old Dutch driver Nina Gademan in all three races, and ahead of Campos Racing teammate Rafaela Ferreira.

“Not exactly what we wanted,” Alisha said after the final race. “We had multiple issues outside our control and many factors contributed to the results not reflecting where we deserve to be.

“Nevertheless, we did the best job we could with what we had and had a decent comeback from P27 to P13 in the final race - a big thank you to everyone in the team for never giving up.

“Onto the next one, we’ll come back stronger!”

After her Algarve adventure, she will partner American racer Chloe Chambers – who finished sixth in last year’s F1 Academy standings - at the next Formula Winter Series event in Valencia.
