Bange hopes to find his range at Ewen Fields

Hyde United boss Nick Spooner is looking for Ewan Bange to offer ‘something different’ in his side’s attack after signing him on loan from Radcliffe.

The 6’3” striker enjoyed two goal-laden loan spells in the Northern Premier League (NPL) at Bamber Bridge and has found the net against the Tigers for Brig and Radcliffe.

“I’m pleased to have got Ewan in, he’s caused us problems over the years, he gives us something different,” said Spooner.

“I know he’s been frustrated at Radcliffe as they have had success, so it’s been hard for him to get in and he’s a young lad who wants to play and he’ll get that opportunity with us.”

Although the chance of regular game time was a factor in coming to the Project Solar Stadium, the Blackpool academy graduate’s prior relationship with the Hyde management team also played its part.

“I’ve known the manager for quite a while,” Bange told Hyde’s YouTube channel. “I used to play with his son [Callum] at Bamber Bridge.

“I picked up an injury straight after pre-season, which set me back a few weeks and I just couldn’t get back up to speed. I’ve been working in my own time to get my fitness back up, so hopefully I’ll be raring to go.”

“I’ve been told by Jake Thompson that Hyde play really good football as well, so it’s something I’m excited to be a part of.”

However, the 22-year-old won’t have the chance to reunite with his old Radcliffe teammate, Thompson, who has moved to Matlock after scoring twice in seven games. The Gladiators offered Hyde an undisclosed fee to tempt the winger to Derbyshire.

Bange is expected to make his debut when Hyde travel to Mickleover in the NPL Premier Division on Saturday, hoping to end a seven-game winless run.
