Curzon Ashton have confirmed the signing of experienced midfielder Danny Whitehead, following his departure from National League North side Macclesfield.
The 32-year-old boasts an impressive CV, having made over 200 National League appearances, as well as featuring 45 times in League Two for Port Vale, Macclesfield Town, Salford City, Cheltenham Town and Accrington Stanley.
Whitehead will provide The Nash with some much-needed experience in the middle of the park, as they look to bounce back to the National League North following their relegation.
Following his signing, the former West Ham United man told the club:
“I’m really happy to be here, I spoke to Adam over the summer and things moved pretty quickly, and I’m glad to be here now.”
Nash boss Adam Barton added:
“With Danny, it was an obvious decision for us, for me and the club.
“He took a little while to get things over the line, but that was because of his interest that he had from many clubs.
“When we had a meeting with him, he was excited with the project we are putting together and it was something he wanted to be a part of.
“He’s a local lad and he’s won this league, and the National League North.
“He has so many games in the league and, for us, it’s a massive signing and a massive positive going forward.”
Elsewhere, academy graduate Harry Barber-Olufowobi has also put pen to paper, signing his first professional contract with the club.
