Hospice ask public to 'shell' out on Creme Eggs for Bunny Hop

A local hospice has renewed its appeal for donations of Creme Eggs after it passed the 3,000 mark this week.

Willow Wood is gearing up for its annual Bunny Hop, in which children are sponsored to boing around schools, nurseries and playgroups.

Following a record-breaking 2024, which saw more than 7,000 youngsters raise almost £50,000, the hospice is hoping to crack through that barrier this year.

Organisers hope 8,000 kids will take part, but the promise of a Creme Egg for each participant as part of an Easter activity pack means the pressure is on to find another 5,000 eggs before the Friday March 14 deadline.

“Last year, we raised a record amount for our Bunny Hop since it first launched in 2021 and we would love to top that this year,” said Willow Wood’s Tracey Schofield.

“If you have not signed up yet, there’s still time and it’s free to join in.

“We need as many Creme Eggs as possible and every contribution, however small, will make a difference to children who are raising funds to support patients from the local community with a life-limiting illness.

“We appreciate your generosity.”

Creme Eggs drop-off points are in each of the charity’s shops across Tameside and Glossop, as well as at the hospice’s reception off Mellor Road in Ashton.

There is also the option of buying the Creme Eggs online and having them delivered straight to Willow Wood or even using the cash donation form on the hospice’s website.

Any school, nursery or children’s group that wishes to take part in the Willow Wood Bunny Hop can still sign up, by emailing tracey.schofield@willowwood.org.uk or calling 0161 330 7788.
