The transformation of Ashton Market Square is making strong progress, with the revamped space on track to reopen in Spring 2026. A major part of the redevelopment includes the introduction of 10 brand-new, high-quality kiosks, set to become a central feature of the revitalised town centre.
The kiosks aim to bring fresh energy to the market while preserving its local character. Several established and much-loved traders have already committed to the new space, including Market Ground Coffee House, Wilsons Fruit and Veg, and Alf’s Shoe Repairs. Their involvement highlights the blend of tradition and renewal that the redevelopment seeks to achieve.
With work well underway, the project offers a significant opportunity for local entrepreneurs and small businesses. Tameside Council is now welcoming Expressions of Interest from traders and independent businesses eager to be part of Ashton’s next chapter.
The redevelopment is expected to breathe new life into the town centre, creating a modern, welcoming space that supports local trade while offering visitors an enhanced shopping experience.
Tameside Council Executive Member for Towns, Transport, and Connectivity Cllr Stephen Homer said: “We’re looking for passionate, high-quality food, drink and local produce businesses to help bring the new Market Square to life. There’s also scope for a small retail offer to complement the wider market experience.
“Whether you're an established business looking to expand or someone with a long-held ambition to start your own venture, this is your chance to be part of something new.”
