Tameside School of Gymnastics Community Interest Company (TSOG) is celebrating an outstanding start to 2026 after members of its advanced junior squad achieved exceptional results at the North West Preparation 1 & 2 Grades, held on Saturday 31 January and Sunday 1 February.
The annual grades competitions, which test gymnasts on floor, vault, bars, beam, and a demanding Range & Conditioning routine, are designed to assess strength, flexibility, power and precision.
After weeks of dedicated preparation, TSOG’s young gymnasts delivered performances that surpassed all expectations.
Every competitor passed with flying colours, earning impressively high marks that included numerous ‘Working Above’ and ‘Working Beyond’ scores - the highest categories attainable at this level.
For the first competition of the year, the club could not have hoped for a stronger start.
Two gymnasts shone particularly brightly. Brooke Shirley dominated the Preparation 2 (age 9) category, securing not only the Greater Manchester title but also the prestigious North West title.
Brooke’s excellence continued across the apparatus, placing 1st on Beam and 1st in Range & Conditioning for the entire region.
In the Preparation 2 (age 10+) category, Jasmyn Hilton also claimed regional glory, taking the Greater Manchester title, placing 3rd overall in the North West, and securing 1st place on Beam in the regional rankings.
Additionally, in the same age group, Elodyrose Jackson achieved an impressive 3rd place overall in Greater Manchester, and excelled in Range & Conditioning, taking first place in the county and ranking third in the North West.
The wider TSOG team also produced superb results, with every gymnast earning top-ten placements across various pieces.
Also representing the club in the age 9 category were Lacey Farmery-Fox, Thoriso Salepito, and Harriette Warburton.
TSOG coaches noted that the results reflect the gymnasts’ hard work and focus throughout the winter training period.
The club now looks ahead to an exciting 2026 season, inspired by such a confident beginning.
Tameside School of Gymnastics will be holding trials later this month, with limited spaces now available in their competitive squads.
