Curzon Ashton got back to winning ways in emphatic fashion on Tuesday night with a 4-1 win over Marine at the Tameside Stadium.
The Nash got the better of their Merseyside based opponents thanks to a hat trick from Liverpudlian winger Tony Weston.
Weston opened the scoring on 18 minutes when his long-range effort flew in off the right-hand post to give Mark Bradshaw’s side a half-time lead.
Alex Curran added the hosts’ second just past the hour, finding the corner with a diving header before visitors Marine pulled one back just three minutes later through Offrande Zanzala.
But any hopes of a fightback were quickly put to bed when Weston added his second six minutes later, capping off a superb run by slotting past Barnsley before completing his hat-trick in added time to seal a comprehensive victory.
“It was a bit of a mad game really,” admitted Curzon assistant head coach Jack Salkeld following the win.
“First half we weren’t great, but second half I thought we were fantastic.
“You’ve got to give the lads so much credit because it’s been a negative place recently, and I’m just so happy that the last few home performances have been very good.”
