The Radclyffe School wins national STEM award with support from local sponsors

The Radclyffe School celebrating success.

Students from The Radclyffe School have achieved national recognition after winning the prestigious Best Build Award at the STEM on Track National Finals, competing against more than 100 schools from across the country.

Recognising excellence in engineering, craftsmanship, innovation and attention to detail, the award is one of the competition’s most highly regarded honours.

This success marks the culmination of an eight-month journey involving more than 30 students from Years 9 and 10, who dedicated countless hours to designing, building, testing and racing two karts through a series of regional events before earning their place at the national finals.

The finals brought together some of the country's most talented young engineers and racers.

Both Radclyffe karts took to the track in the second of four races, but an early incident saw the Apex Radclyffe kart forced out of the race on lap three. Despite this setback, the team quickly adapted their approach to ensure all drivers still had the opportunity to compete, working together throughout the remainder of the event and demonstrating resilience under pressure.

Matt Brown, who leads the STEM on Track programme at The Radclyffe School, said: “The students were outstanding ambassadors for our school. Their teamwork, professionalism and enthusiasm were evident throughout the competition, and they should be immensely proud of what they have achieved.”

Supported throughout the year by partners and sponsors including Kajima, InfraRed Capital Partners and Chadderton-based engineering firm Diodes, the programme has provided students with valuable opportunities to develop practical engineering, design and project management skills through a real-world challenge.

The Radclyffe School congratulated all students and staff involved in this year's STEM on Track programme on an outstanding achievement and a memorable national success.
