New community initiative launches to champion more homes for local people in Oldham

A new campaign has been launched in Oldham to support the building of more suitable homes for the town and its surrounding areas.

People for Homes is a new community-focused initiative supporting housing opportunities, thoughtful regeneration and positive long-term growth across the town and surrounding areas. 

Oldham resident, business owner and community advocate Lorraine Robinson is one of the creators of the campaign, that is aiming to give those people who support new homes and development in the area to have a collective voice.  

People for Homes will enable residents to show their combined support for sustainable development across the borough. 

People for Homes will help Oldham residents find out more about local plans and the positive impact this investment can bring to the town. It will also enable local people to have their say to encourage a better future for their families to live and work in Oldham. 

Lorraine Robinson said: “As a proud resident of Oldham, I am passionate about giving families and future generations the opportunities to stay and thrive in our town. Too often, the local voices supporting positive growth go unheard. 

“Across Oldham, more local people are looking for high-quality homes within the communities they already know and love. We don’t want them to be forced to live out of the area due to a lack of suitable housing. 

“People for Homes are aiming to give residents of Oldham a platform where they can show their support for sustainable development, investment and modern housing opportunities. Together we can share our help create stronger neighbourhoods, safer public spaces and places future generations can feel proud to call home.” 

People for Homes will focus on championing new, well-designed homes that meet local needs and help ensure local voices are heard in planning and regeneration decisions.
