The wait was finally over at Oasis Academy Leesbrook as students collected their GCSE results - a morning filled with celebration, smiles and new beginnings.
This year’s grades reflected not only excellent academic achievement but also the resilience, determination, and ambition of Leesbrook students.
The Leader of the Council, Councillor Arooj Shah and Councillor Shaid Mushtaq proudly visited the school to join in the students’ academic success.
The school highlighted that many pupils overcame significant personal and social challenges to achieve outcomes to be proud of, supported by staff who believed in them and championed their potential every step of the way.
The academy said it continued to invest in the development of its young people, helping them grow in confidence and character as well as knowledge and skills.
They also ensured that students benefited from a wide range of academic and enrichment opportunities, personal development and a strong community ethos that prepared them for life beyond school.
Jahanara, a student reflected on her journey from shyness to leadership during her time at Leesbrook: “I started high school during the pandemic, when lessons were online and everything felt uncertain.
“I was extremely shy in Year 7, but the encouragement of my teachers helped me step outside my comfort zone. I've gained real confidence, made lasting friendships and amazing memories.
“I’ve taken opportunities I’d never have imagined and finished my time here as Student Principal. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and grateful for the support that helped me grow.
“My advice to future Leesbrook students is to focus on your grades, but also enjoy your time and make memories. It will have a positive impact on your mindset and your results.”
Another student, Nerye (pictured above) spoke about his determination to succeed: “For me, when I saw older friends struggle at college after not meeting their expected grades, I knew I didn’t want that for myself. I’d faced some behavioural challenges in Year 10, and I was determined not to let that define my future.
"I didn’t want to let myself or my parents down. The last year went by so fast, and now I’m ready for the next step, college and working life. My advice is to drop distractions and give your GCSEs everything, because you won’t get the chance again.
"I’m confident that if I keep my eyes on my goals, I’ll achieve exactly what I set out to do. Thank you especially to Mr O’Dea for your support in maths. Even when it was tough, you never gave up on me.”
Andrea Mitchell, Principal at Oasis Academy Leesbrook, added: “This has been my first year as Headteacher at Oasis Academy Leesbrook, and I couldn’t be prouder of our Year 11 cohort and staff team.
“Their resilience and determination have truly paid off. Many of our students have overcome significant personal challenges, and it’s their strength, perseverance and unwavering support from their teachers and families that have helped them achieve the best possible outcomes.”
