First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO) can now offer free household items like cutlery and pans to customers in need following a new partnership with local business Ultimate Products.
The first van load of ex‑showroom and surplus stock worth more than £1000 was picked up by the housing association from the firm’s Chadderton warehouse this week.
Ultimate Products has been donating these goods to charities and organisations for ten years and recently invited FCHO to join the scheme.
Other items in the first batch of 28 boxes included: clothes airers, crockery, brushes and dry mops from well-known names like Salter and Beldray.
“We’re really pleased to be joining this long-standing scheme to help our customers with some of the essential items they need but might not be able to afford when they move in,” said FCHO head of community services Ben Thomas.
“Our staff will now package up the products ready to distribute them and we look forward to picking up more boxes in the future. Many thanks to Ultimate Products for its incredible generosity.”
Ultimate Products chief operating officer Craig Holden added: “UP is committed to supporting our local community, and particularly those that need it the most.
“We want to support and build partnerships with local organisations like FCHO who share our goals and ambitions for the community.
“These community stock donations of essential household products are hopefully the beginning of working together more in the near future.”
On the day FCHO picked up its goods, Oldham Council and the Mahdlo Youth Zone were also receiving supplies.
