"We can't wait to open... let the new Twig begin!"
One of Glossop's favourite independent coffee shops has been chosen to run the café at Manor Park.
Twig Coffee has been selected by High Peak Borough Council as the new operator of the park café. Twig Coffee, which already has branches in Glossop Train Station, Hadfield, Gamesley Community Centre and Chapel, is expected to open in the park, in a few weeks time, following a refresh of the building.
Owners say the new café will be open seven days a week. It will bring a wider range of affordable options, aimed at families and visitors to the park, alongside it’s much loved range of drinks, sandwiches, salads, pastries and cakes.
Announcing the news on social media, Twig said: "We would like to announce that Twig Coffee will be opening in Manor Park. We are so excited about this as it's a place close to our heart and lives. We can't wait to open... let the new Twig begin!"
High Peak Borough Council awarded the contract. Councillor Damien Greenhalgh, Deputy Leader and Executive Councillor for Regeneration, Tourism and Leisure, said he was delighted to welcome the business to the park.
He said: "Twig has built a fantastic reputation locally and we're thrilled they've chosen to work with the Council to enhance what Manor Park has to offer.
"Having a thriving café and community hub at the heart of the park is another important step in that journey. Twig's passion for great coffee, quality food and creating welcoming spaces makes them the perfect fit."
Twig owner Mike Ball said the team were looking forward to becoming part of the park community.
He said: "We're incredibly excited to be bringing Twig Coffee to Manor Park. It's a fabulous location and somewhere that's already at the heart of the community.
"My team and I can't wait to welcome everyone through the doors. We want the café to be somewhere everyone feels welcome, whether you're popping in for a quick coffee, enjoying lunch after the playground or meeting friends after a walk."
The opening is expected to provide another reason for residents and visitors alike to spend time in one of Glossop's most popular parks, while adding another chapter to the success story of one of the town's established independent café businesses.
