Here's a reminder of the time - and it wasn't too far back - when Glossop's streets became dumping grounds for all kinds of rubbish.
Pictured is Kershaw Street in Whitfield in 1968, when a piece of spare land became a tipping point for scrap cars and other junk.
Glossop Town Council had finally had enough and opened up its tip at the former Lees Hall Quarry, where people could dump their rubbish for free, even scrap vehicles.
But there was a sting in the tail. Anyone still caught fly-tipping could be pursued and prosecuted.
