"Your Council, Your Voice"

Residents are being encouraged to share their views on council services, spending priorities and the future direction of the county through this year's "Your Council Your Voice" survey.

Launched on 1st June, the annual survey will remain open until midnight on Sunday 19th July, giving people the opportunity to influence key decisions about how services are delivered and where council taxpayers' money should be invested.

The survey asks residents for their opinions on a range of topics, including the services provided by Derbyshire County Council, the areas where they live and whether they would like to see any changes or improvements. The findings will be used to help shape the council's next Council Plan and ensure resources are directed towards the areas that matter most to local people.

Consisting of 30 questions, the survey also allows participants to identify the three services they believe should be prioritised. Options include keeping children safe, welfare rights, roads and transport, waste and recycling, special educational needs, libraries and adult social care.

Residents will also be asked whether they believe the council provides value for money, keeps people informed about its work and involves communities in decision-making. In addition, there is an opportunity to suggest ways the council could save money or generate additional income as it continues to manage financial pressures and balance its budget.

The survey is carried out every year to track changing priorities and opinions across Derbyshire, helping the council understand what is working well and where improvements may be needed.

Council leader Councillor Alan Graves said: "The annual residents' survey is one of the most important features of our calendar because it gives us a valuable opportunity to hear directly from residents and understand what they think about the council and the services we provide.

"We know many households continue to face financial pressures, and the council is also experiencing rising costs. With limited resources available, it is more important than ever that our decisions are guided by what residents tell us.

"We want as many people as possible, of all ages, to complete the survey and share their views openly and honestly. Their feedback will help shape our future direction."

The questionnaire takes around 10 minutes to complete and can be filled in online - see below. Paper copies are available at local libraries or can be requested directly from the council.

The results will be published later this year. Residents who would like to become more involved can also register their interest in taking part in online focus groups, which will be held during July and August to explore key issues in greater detail.
