Peter and Christina Harris recently welcomed more than 140 visitors to their Simmondley garden, as they once again opened it in support of the National Garden Scheme raising vital funds for charity.
The green-fingered couple welcomed visitors to their home on Sunday 28th June, continuing a tradition they have maintained for the past 21 years.
Guests explored the colourful garden, admired the stunning views across the surrounding countryside and enjoyed refreshments, a craft stall, children's activities and a popular plant sale featuring plants propagated by the couple from seeds and cuttings grown in the garden itself.
The event proved another great success, raising an impressive £1,811 for National Garden Scheme charities.
Peter and Christina said: "We had a lovely day for our garden opening for the National Garden Scheme charities. The weather was kind – not wet, windy or too hot. We had over 140 visitors and raised £1,811 for the various charities, so we were very pleased. It made all the sweat and almost tears of setting it all up in the awful heat worthwhile."
The National Garden Scheme has been opening private gardens to the public for almost 100 years, raising millions of pounds for nursing and health charities across the UK.
