Ashton’s indoor market gallery is full with home-grown talent this Autumn, as two exhibitions open side by side.
The first is by Stalybridge Photographic Club, who’s members are sharing a selection of their award winning pictures for the gallery. The incredible photographs celebrate Tameside with landscapes, nature, wildlife and much more.
Established four decades ago, the photographic club is a friendly and welcoming place where members come from all walks of life, and boast a wide range of photographic skills, abilities and knowledge.
The second exhibition is by artist, Kevin Williams. Kevin lost his wife Hedy to cancer, but was provided with fantastic support from the Macmillan nurses at Tameside Hospital and To try and give something back, Kevin made the decision to take commissions to create bespoke artworks and try to raise as much money for Macmillan Cancer Support as possible so they can continue providing help for patients.
All proceeds from Paintings For Macmillan exhibition at the Market Gallery will go to the charity.
Cllr Sangita Patel, Tameside Council’s assistant executive member for Culture, Heritage, Participation and Sport said: “The Market Gallery is fantastic; it gives local artists the exciting opportunity to share their talents of bringing art right into the heart of our community and town centre, for residents and visitors to enjoy. Having two great local exhibitions at once is testament to the brilliant homegrown artistic talent in Tameside”
The exhibitions will run until November 5. Ashton Indoor Market is open 9am-5pm every day except Sundays.
