The much-loved TGI Friday’s restaurant on Ashton Moss has now shut its doors permanently, marking the end of an era for the American-style dining venue that has been a fixture of the local leisure scene.
The closure comes as part of a wider restructuring of TGI Fridays’ UK operations after the business was placed into a pre-pack administration deal earlier this week. Nationally, the restaurant chain has closed 16 locations with immediate effect, leading to 456 job losses across the country.
TGI Fridays has faced significant challenges in recent years amid economic pressures on the hospitality sector, including rising costs and changing consumer habits. Administrators were appointed this month, and 33 restaurants have been saved along with the jobs of 1,384 staff members.
However, Ashton’s branch was not included in the rescue deal and has closed immediately along with 15 other sites across the UK.
