Flowery Fields Primary School came together in a moving tribute to Lila Marsland on Wednesday, January 14, the day she would have celebrated her eighth birthday.
Lila’s family marked the occasion alongside pupils and staff at her former school, where they gathered to remember her life in a celebration filled with colour, bubbles and reflection.
Children across the school wore touches of purple, Lila’s favourite colour, as a sign of love and remembrance. The day included a special visit from Paris Bubbles, who performed a bubble show for Year 3 and Year 4 pupils. Lila’s former classmates were also given the chance to play with the bubbles in the playground, creating a joyful atmosphere in her memory.

Lila’s mum Rachael, dad Daz and sister Ava took part in a poignant moment during the visit, creating bubbles together and releasing them into the sky as a symbolic message “up to heaven” for Lila.
As part of the school’s ongoing tribute, Year 6 pupils at Flowery Fields have been tasked with designing a memorial garden in Lila’s honour. The garden will serve as a lasting space for reflection and remembrance within the school grounds.
During the visit, Rachael and Daz presented the school with a cheque for £1,000 from Lila’s Light charity, which will go towards the creation of the memorial garden. The donation marks another step in the family’s continued efforts to ensure Lila’s legacy lives on through positive community projects.
