Residents, businesses and community stakeholders across Tameside are being encouraged to have their say on the latest stage of the borough’s Local Plan.
The current phase, titled Homes, Spaces and Places, sets out how Tameside will grow and develop over the next 15 years, up to 2042. It will guide where new homes and jobs are located, protect valued green spaces and ensure the right infrastructure is in place to support communities as the borough evolves.
An online consultation is now open and will play a vital role in shaping Tameside’s future. The draft plan has already been informed by feedback from the first two stages of consultation, and residents are once again being invited to review the proposals and share their views.
The draft Local Plan includes:
- Policies to guide development and safeguard valued areas
- Site allocations for housing and employment growth
- Measures to ensure growth is supported by transport improvements, schools and health services
- A strong focus on high-quality design and embedding low-carbon principles in all future developments
In addition to the online consultation, a series of drop-in sessions will take place in every town across the borough over the coming weeks, giving people the chance to view the plans in person, ask questions and speak directly with council officers.
Cllr McLaren, Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Growth, Housing and Homelessness, said: “Everyone’s voice in Tameside matters. This is your opportunity to shape the borough’s future and influence how it grows and thrives. We want to hear from as many people as possible to make sure our Local Plan reflects the needs and aspirations of our communities. Please take the time to get involved and have your say. Together, we can create vibrant neighbourhoods, thriving towns, and spaces that work for everyone.”
People can take part in the consultation and find out more information online at www.tameside.gov.uk/homesspacesplaces.
