Teenagers across Tameside are being invited to get creative, make new friends and try something different at a new series of Teen Meet-up Sessions hosted by Tameside Libraries.
Funded by Tameside Council and Know Your Neighbourhood, the free workshops will take place at Ashton and Droylsden libraries across January, February and March, offering young people a welcoming and relaxed space to socialise while learning new creative skills.
The sessions will be led by local artist Caroline Coates, who will guide participants through a variety of hands-on activities. Teenagers will have the chance to design and make their own leather book covers, create graffiti-style canvas art, craft homewares, decorations and jewellery using eco resin, and even learn screen printing techniques to customise their own bag.
Each workshop is designed to be accessible and fun, allowing teens to express themselves creatively while building confidence and meeting others with similar interests.
The Teen Meet-up Sessions take place every second Tuesday of the month, with additional Saturday sessions at Droylsden Library. The full programme includes:
- Ashton Library: Tuesday 13 January, 5–6.30pm – Make your own leather book
- Droylsden Library: Saturday 31 January, 10.30am–12.30pm – Graffiti Canvas
- Ashton Library: Tuesday 10 February, 5–6.30pm – Jesmonite (resin) workshop
- Ashton Library: Tuesday 10 March, 5–6.30pm – Make your own bracelet and keyring
- Droylsden Library: Saturday 28 March, 10.30am–12.30pm – Screen printing
Councillor Leanne Feeley, Tameside Council’s Executive Member for Lifelong Learning and Culture, said the sessions aim to give young people positive opportunities within their local communities.
She said: “We want to offer young people a positive space to socialise and try new things. The sessions are free, so I hope as many teens as possible take up the opportunity to come along and try something creative and fun.”
Places are limited, and teenagers are encouraged to book early or contact their local library for more information.
