The newly appointed Civic Mayor of Tameside, Councillor Helen Bowden, has spoken to the Tameside Reporter of her pride in taking on the role and her commitment to supporting mental health and local organisations across the borough.

In March, Holly Philburn, Margot Kennedy and Hope Warner, all from Tameside successfully earned places in the prestigious English Youth Ballet (EYB) production of Swan Lake, joining an elite cast of 97 dancers after highly competitive auditions. 

Greenspace volunteers working alongside Tameside Council’s greenspace team contributed an amazing 2,258 days last year to helping to care for the borough’s natural environment.

Tameside Council has confirmed it will be run by a Labour minority administration at its full council meeting on 26 May 2026.
