Woman charged and man arrested following spate of burglaries in Hyde

A 34-year-old woman from Hyde has been charged with burglary following an investigation by GMP's Neighbourhood Crime Team.

Stephanie Rimmer, of Marler Road, has been charged with burglary with intent to steal. The charge comes after a burglary in Hyde on July 6.

She has been remanded to appear at Tameside Magistrates.

Police also made another arrest in relation to a Hyde burglary early this morning, July 24. Officers were made aware of reports of a burglary at a property on Shelley Street and reports of criminal damage at a neighbouring property.

Through house-to-house enquiries, officers identified and located a man of interest to their investigation.

A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of burglary and criminal damage and remains in custody for questioning by officers.

Detective Sergeant Matt Playford, from GMP's Tameside district, said: "Burglaries are crimes that leave people feeling unsafe in their own home, and I hope this arrest shows that we will investigate, and we will take action against anyone who threatens the safety of our communities.

“Anyone with information regarding recent burglaries are encouraged to contact GMP using the live chat function at www.gmp.police.uk. Alternatively you can report any information anonymously via the independent charity - Crimestoppers – on 0800 555 111.”
