The Vale announces autumn/winter 2026 programme

Festival favourites Transglobal Underground will be alighting at The Vale this autumn as part of the Mossley arts centre's autumn live programme.

The band exploded onto the club scene in the early 90s with the classic single Temple Head, a track which took inspiration from the UK bhangra scene and had one foot in Madchester and the other in clubland.

Now 12 albums into a musical journey that refuses to be restricted by borders, the BBC Radio 3 world music award-winning group will be sharing tracks from their 2022 album Sitar Monday, right back to where it started with Dream of 100 Nations in 1993. Transglobal Underground play The Vale on 21st November, 2026.

Launching the venue's live music offering for this autumn and winter is Bologna Bridge Band, on 12th September, 2026.

A brass-heavy Italian party band, they draw inspiration from the rich musical tradition of New Orleans with added funk, hip-hop and pulsating techno beats. Evoking the heady atmosphere of street parades and celebrations, The Vale is one of only three UK dates on the band's current tour and they will be at The Vale on 12th September, 2026.

In October, legendary drum master Steve White of The Style Council is coming to The Vale with his new band, Steve White Trio. 

White found fame as drummer with Paul Weller's acclaimed post-The Jam group from 1983-89, earning the accolade of being the youngest drummer to perform at Live Aid in 1985.

When the Style Council broke up, Steve co-founded his own group, The Jazz Renegades and went on to perform with Galliano, The Young Disciples, JTQ and many more, whilst continuing to play with Weller throughout the first decades of his solo career.

Promoting their latest album Soul Drums (Acid Jazz Records), Steve White Trio will be at The Vale on 31st October, 2026.

A pre-Christmas tasty treat is promised on 12th December, 2026 when The Vale serves up a generous helping of The Haggis Horns. A nine-piece band combining heavy breakbeats, funk, soul, hip-hop and Afrobeat with the virtuosity of trained jazz musicians, the group has been a driving force in the UK funk scene for more than two decades.

First making waves as the horn section of The New Mastersounds, in 2004, they stepped into the spotlight as a full band, crafting their own signature northern funk sound.

Group members have also played and recorded with some of the biggest names in music, including Jamiroquai, John Legend, Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson, Martha Reeves, Roots Manuva, Kano and Morcheeba.

Beyond music, there's also family theatre and comedy coming to The Vale this autumn and winter. Blending Indian dance, music, storytelling, and stage magic, The Magic Stick (1st November, 2026) is a heart-warming family show celebrating compassion, selflessness, and generosity. It is suitable for ages 6+.

And equal parts rapper, banjolele maverick, storyteller and dandy, Mr. B The Gentleman Rhymer's Probably Accurate Hip-Hop History Show is packed with interpretations of rap favourites and original songs.

Mr. B is the alter ego of Jim Burke, former member of Collapsed Lung, whose most famous song was Eat My Goal. Burke started performing as Mr. B in 2007, and has since released 15 albums and garnered millions of views on YouTube, taking his comedy character to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2010. Mr. B is "Straight Outta Surrey" to Mossley on 14th November, 2026.
