Tameside Council announces open spaces workshop

Calling all groups who volunteer in open spaces around Tameside!

Land Use Consultants (LUC) are working with Tameside Council to understand the amount and variety of publicly accessible open spaces in the area – from formal parks and community greens to large natural woodlands and moorland.

This important work will shape future planning and help guide how new green spaces are created in upcoming developments. The project will help create a long-term plan for improving open spaces across Tameside.

While there isn’t funding available right now, it is hoped the workshop will help identify key priorities if additional funding becomes available. These priorities could be met by developers, private landowners or the Council.

The workshop will be an opportunity for the public to share their thoughts and opinions on the open spaces within Tameside. The LUC and Tameside Council want to hear a wide variety of responses, from both regular park volunteers and visitors, and people who may have reasons for not visiting at all.

It will be an informal session to learn more about the project the council and LUC are working on, and feed into potential recommendations or considerations for future open space provision.

The workshop will be held on Tuesday 3rd of June 10am-12pm at Hyde Town Hall.

There is a maximum of 2 spaces per group (eg. a Friends of or community group).
