Students transform Crèche facility

The King's Trust Team Programme, a 12-week personal development course for young people aged 16-25 who are not in employment or education, recently completed their community project.  Students renovated the crèche facility at Tameside Women & Their Families Centre in Ashton under Lyne as part of their course.

Sarah Quinn, Team Manager for King's Trust, highlighted the challenges faced by the students, particularly in using their initiative and working together as a team. She said that while there were emotional moments, the group ultimately achieved their goal.

Ian Redfern, Borough Manager for Tameside and Oldham at Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, praised the transformative impact of the programme on the students. He expressed his pleasure in witnessing the results of their hard work.

The next King's Trust cohort based in Hyde is scheduled to begin in May 2025. Those interested in participating can follow the team on Facebook @GMFRSFutureHeroes for more information.

The King's Trust Team Programme offers participants the opportunity to develop skills, gain qualifications, build confidence, and engage in community projects. It includes various activities such as a residential week, work experience, and firefighter experience days.
