Stalybridge Buffet Bar and beer house based next to Stalybridge train station came third in the telegraphs ranking for Britain’s best railway pubs.
The pub opened in 1885 and still has its original marble-topped bar and welcoming fire.
The Stalybridge Buffet Bar is like a museum with the walls lined with old railway signs and memorabilia.
The pub is a part of the TransPennine Real Ale Trail.
Lyndsey Walker, co-manager of the pub, found out the news of the ranking through one of the regulars: “Featured in the telegraph thought I’d show you; that’s from George. He was like don’t change, just cause you’re in the telegraph.”
The team is made up of eight members of staff and the pub opens 7 days a week.
The status came as a surprise to the team: “It’s amazing! It’s recognition for what we do. We work hard, every staff member that works here. We have a very small team.

The pub also puts on events such as a photography club on a Tuesday, a quiz night on a Sunday and live music from North by Northwest on occasionally.
They also have street food vendors during the summer months but always serve pie peas and gravy!
