Ashton Albion Boxing Club has received another financial boost thanks to a local artist and a business owner.
The club has had to move from its former gym at Albion Mill, but has since found a new base on Dean Street in Ashton.
However, the premises require significant renovation if the club is to make it a permanent home, with fundraising well underway.
To help the efforts, local artist Vanessa Dixon painted a picture of Albion Mill and invited offers to buy it.
Step forward Gary Armstrong, who owns the Mill-based company Armstrong Office Furniture.
He bought the painting for £300, with Vanessa donating the proceeds to Ashton Albion Boxing Club.
They met recently to exchange the painting and the cheque, and were joined by Cllr John Taylor, who helped find the boxing club their new home.
