Seven Scouting teams compete in annual competition
Young people from across North Tameside Scout District came together for a day of adventure, teamwork and fun at the District's annual Watersports Day.
The event was hosted by the 413th Manchester Scout Group at the historic Moravian Settlement in Droylsden.
Scouts and Explorer Scouts representing all seven Scout groups from across the District took part in a range of exciting water-based and outdoor activities. Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to try canoeing, Canadian canoeing, rafting and pioneering, with activities led by volunteer leaders from across North Tameside District.

The event not only provided plenty of excitement on the water but also gave young people the chance to work towards and achieve their Dragon Boat Racing Badge and Time on the Water Badge. The day also offered a valuable opportunity for Scouts and Explorer Scouts to meet and make new friends with members from other Groups and Units across the District.
As the activities continued throughout the day, participants demonstrated excellent teamwork, communication and resilience, embodying the values of Scouting while enjoying the challenges of the water and pioneering activities.

A campfire provided the perfect setting for everyone to come together, share experiences from the day and celebrate their achievements. The campfire was led by leaders from across the District, highlighting the collaborative spirit that makes events such as this possible.
Competition was fierce throughout the event, with teams battling it out for the top honours.
In the Scout Section, the 2026 champions were 413th Manchester Scouts (B Team), while in the Explorer Scout Section, victory went to Phoenix Explorer Scouts.
District organisers praised the enthusiasm shown by all participants and thanked the many volunteers whose hard work ensured the event was a great success.
The annual Watersports Day continues to be one of the highlights of the North Tameside Scouting calendar, providing young people with opportunities to develop new skills, build confidence and create lasting memories through adventure.
