Police were called to reports of 'concern for the welfare of a man' near the Ash Road Allotments in Droylsden on Saturday (22 October).
A cordon was in place from just after 2pm for several hours and an air ambulance was also spotted in the area.
A man was found with serious injuries and taken to hospital where he remains for treatment, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson has confirmed.
They added that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
