A 48-year-old man has been charged with threatening unlawful violence and two counts of shoplifting in Ashton.
Phillip Forrester, of no fixed abode, was charged yesterday (Tuesday).
It follows reports of a theft of £35 of goods at Superdrug on Monday (December 16) during which the offender allegedly threatened to cut the throat of a member of staff, and the theft of £51 of goods at Ashton's Boots store yesterday (Tuesday).
Forrester was bailed, with the condition that he doesn't enter the Arcades shopping centre, and will appear at Tameside Magistrates Court on Thursday, January 9, 2020.
