A primary school in Denton is set to be rebuilt following years of structural problems.
Russell Scott Primary School, based on Clare Street, has been chosen for the government's school rebuilding programme.
It follows years of constant issues with the current facility, which include sewage overflows, flooding and a lack of a playing field for the pupils, after a two-year remodelling project by the now defunct Carillion.
Years of campaigning from headteacher Steve Marsland, who has occupied the role for 25 years, appeared to have fallen on deaf ears.
However, his efforts have finally been rewarded and the school, which has produced a string of notable footballers, including Manchester United's Rhys Bennett, can now look forward with optimism.
We spoke to Steve about the much-needed news.
