Residents at HC-One’s Stamford Court care home on Astley Road in Stalybridge have been flying the flag.
As recently reported they had the opportunity to team up with CABASA Carnival Arts and Sonder Radio, for their new project ‘Flags for Hope.’
The aim of the project was to create creative writing and poetry around the theme of ‘Hope’ - created in artistic storytelling workshops by residents of local care homes, and allowing CABASA artists to create beautiful silk painted flags inspired by the words.
The flags took 36 metres of hand-woven silk and 104 hours to paint.
The flags were raised proudly around the grounds of Stamford Court for one week as part of a tour around Tameside.
The flags spread the image of hope and wisdom of the older generation, in these modern, uncertain times.
Residents Sean, Joyce and Elizabeth enjoyed posing for photos with their flags and talking to the artists about the creation process.
A spokesperson for the home said: “Our residents who took part were overjoyed to see the reflections of themselves and their own words created in art form.”
