Residents, community groups and local partners are being encouraged to submit funding applications for proposals to deliver neighbourhood improvements across Tameside.
The £1.5 million investment is aimed at boosting local pride and improving community spaces by March 2027. Tameside Council’s current application window for its Pride in Place Impact Fund is due to close 30 April 2026.
The next application window will be open from 1 June to 31 July 2026.
With some funding already committed, a further £1.3 million is available for 2026/27, supporting projects that deliver lasting improvements to places people use every day. The funding is focussed on three key areas:
- Community spaces – enhancing local facilities and supporting organisations to bring underused buildings and spaces back into use
- Public spaces – upgrading parks, play areas, lighting and street furniture
- High streets and town centres – revitalising shopfronts, improving markets and enhancing streetscapes
The fund is available for capital projects only, supporting the purchase or improvement of physical assets that bring long-term benefits to communities.
As part of wider investment across the borough, Tameside has already secured £20 million in Pride in Place funding over ten years for Hattersley and Ashton. To ensure fair distribution of resources, applications to the Impact Fund will be prioritised for the remaining seven towns and surrounding neighbourhoods not covered by those long-term programmes.
A council spokesperson said: “The Pride in Place Impact Fund is about listening to residents and giving communities a real voice in shaping the places they care about. Whether it’s a well‑loved local building, a park that needs investment or a high street with huge potential, this funding gives us the opportunity to make meaningful, long‑lasting improvements right across Tameside.”
Information and the application form can be found at www.tameside.gov.uk/impactfund
Anyone interested in applying should also email policy@tameside.gov.uk to register their interest. A member of the team will then be in touch to arrange a conversation about potential proposals and next steps.
