Celtic up to third

Stalybridge Celtic moved up to third in the table on Saturday with a 2-1 win at home to high-flying Bootle.

Hosts Celtic took the lead after 20 minutes when Ash Leathers’ drilled ball in was smashed home by the onrushing Matty Bryan.

Visitors Bootle then equalised early in the second half when Michael Burkey cut inside his man and unleashed a superb curling effort which found the top right corner.

As the match seemed to be heading for a draw, up stepped Celtic defender Sean Tse to win it for his side with a bullet header 15 minutes from time.

“We just kept the momentum. We knew it was going to be a tough game today,” the Hong Kong international told the club’s YouTube channel. “We’ve got a full week of training now on Tuesday and Thursday, which is good, and we can go into next Saturday [against Wythenshawe] with some confidence.”

Following the win, the club have been notified of their opponents in the First Round of the Manchester FA Frank Hannah Premier Cup- James Kinsey’s side will face National League North side Radcliffe at Bower Fold, with dates to be released in due course.
