Two Thugs Caged For Stealing Thousands Of Pounds Worth Of Property

Jailed.

Two thugs have been jailed after stealing thousands of pounds worth of property from burglaries across Oldham between May and June last year.

Ellis Dymond (19) of Ninth Avenue, Oldham, was sentenced to nine-and-a-half years for 35 offences.

This included 19 burglaries/attempt burglaries, 13 theft of motor vehicle offences, robbery, possession of an imitation firearm, and possession of Class B drugs.

Harrison Chadderton (18) of Oak Road, Oldham was sentenced to two-and-a-half years for 14 offences.

This included eight burglaries/attempt burglaries, five theft of motor vehicle offences and possession of Class B drugs.

Following an investigation by Oldham’s Neighbourhood Crime Team, it was established that the two offenders used tools to burn the locks of rear doors to enter homes and steal property.

Over a 5-week period, it is thought that Dymond and Chadderton made off with approximately £188,075.00 of stolen property from numerous properties across Oldham.

The suspects used a vehicle to drive around the area during the night to target addresses with cars outside of them, before entering a property and taking the vehicle keys before making off.

Dymond has been handed a longer sentence for a robbery which occurred on Friday, June 7, 2024 at an address in Failsworth, as he woke a victim from his sleep and threatened him with a suspected imitation firearm, demanding his car keys.

PC Lydia Holt from Oldham Neighbourhood Crime Team said: “I hope this sentencing can bring a degree of justice to the victims and the community of Oldham.

“Nobody deserves to wake up and discover their home has been broken into and items stolen by individuals who think they are above the law.

“We will continue to work bringing serious offenders like Ellis Dymond and Harrison Chadderton to justice and put them behind bars, and we will continue to ensure that our community is and will continue to be a safe place to live and work.”
