Eighteen Oldham Mountain Rescue Team (OMRT) members conducting their monthly team meeting in Greenfield were urgently called by police to reports of three walkers in Birchen Clough unable to find the path in the dark.
Volunteer team members quickly headed by 4x4 Land Rover to the bottom of Birchen Clough, located near Dove Stone Reservoir, and then set out on foot up the rocky path to locate the walkers who were escorted down towards Oldham Mountain Rescue Team vehicles and assessed by a team Remote Rescue Medical Technician.
The duration of the incident was two hours, 15 minutes.
