Unlock your future: Mahdlo to host half-term youth hackathon

Mahdlo Youth Zone will host Your Future: Unlocked . . . a free youth hackathon this Wednesday, October 28.

The hackathon will take place at Mahdlo Youth Zone from 10am to 3pm and is open to young people aged 12 and over, with a free lunch and prizes available for participants.

Participants will work in teams to explore the question: “How can we make it easier for young people in Oldham to feel more confident, hopeful and prepared for their future?”

With guidance from local employers, young people will identify challenges, develop ideas to address them, and pitch their proposals at the end of the event.

Taff Accounts, BTM Wealth Management, Cyber Seigen and WBES Oldham Limited will take part, share their experience and offer employer perspectives and insight into the workplace throughout the event.

The hackathon forms part of Mahdlo Youth Zone’s employability programme, which helps young people in Oldham develop skills, build confidence, and explore different career paths.

Karen Blinco, Employability Lead at Mahdlo Youth Zone, said: “We’re really excited to be hosting our Your Future: Unlocked hackathon and bringing young people and local employers together to explore the opportunities and challenges facing the next generation in Oldham.

“We want young people to feel that their ideas matter and that they have a say in shaping their future. We’d love to see as many young people as possible get involved and develop ideas that could make a real difference.”

Free tickets for the hackathon are available through Mahdlo Youth Zone’s website: https://www.mahdloyz.org/event/yourfuture/
