Three arrested as part of Operation Hurricane e-bike crackdown in Oldham

Police make arrests.

Two men and a boy were arrested following a police crackdown on anti-social use of e-bikes and Surron bikes in the St Mary’s area of Oldham.

Officers executed the warrants as part of Op Hurricane, which is a coordinated crackdown on the anti-social use of off-road bikes, e-bikes, and quad bikes across the region.

Two men, aged 18 and 29, and a 16-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit damage. They have all been bailed for this offence pending further investigation.

Inspector Amie Whitehead from the Neighbourhood Policing Team in Oldham said: "The anti-social and dangerous use of e-bikes can have a significant impact on our communities and potentially puts other road-users or pedestrians at risk.

"These warrants demonstrate our continued commitment, through Operation Hurricane, to identifying and targeting those who use e-bikes to engage in criminality or anti-social behaviour.

"We have listened to concerns raised by local communities and will continue to take robust action to make our neighbourhoods safer and ensure those responsible are held accountable for their actions.

"Your reports are incredibly important to us. Anyone who may have concerns in their area is encouraged to come forward and report."

Reports can be made via 101, or through the LiveChat function on the GMP website.
