Three arrested and more than £20k worth of drugs seized in Vulcan warrants

Some of the drugs seized by officers.

Three people have been arrested following early morning raids conducted by the Operation Vulcan team.

Officers executed the warrants as part of a broader investigation into drugs supply in the Derker area shortly before 6am today (January 14),

Vulcan officers have been tackling criminality in the Derker area since March, and have taken action across the entirety of Oldham.

The action this morning on Warcock Road and Capesthorne Drive resulted in the arrests of three people – two men aged 32 and 29 and a woman aged 26 – on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

The three remain in custody for further questioning, and enquiries are ongoing.

During subsequent searches of the properties, suspected heroin and cocaine with a total estimated street value of £23,000 were recovered.

In addition, a knuckle-duster, a quantity of cash, and jewellery were seized by officers.

The substances were seized, along with other associated drug paraphernalia, for further analysis.

Detective Inspector Lee Newburn, from GMP’s Operation Vulcan team, said: “Over the last ten months, we have made more than 200 arrests – and I am glad we have added to that tally this morning.

“Our work has been targeting drugs supply and wider issues, and to get illicit products off the street is another success as we continue to tackle criminality wherever we can.

“I would urge anyone with issues within their area to get in touch with police, as all intelligence is acted upon and assists us in our fight against crime.”
