It is with great sadness the family of Peter Buckley announce his passing yesterday (Tuesday) at the age of 85.
Peter was an Oldham born industrialist, who became the youngest chairman of a UK public limited company (Hyman PLC) during the early 1980’s.
He went on to become the chairman of Slumberland Beds and was well known for his business acumen, donations to local charities and generous support for the Duke of Edinburgh awards.
In 1991 he was also appointed chairman of a successful £1 million CT Scanner appeal for The Royal Oldham Hospital.
Peter lived a full and happy life. He enjoyed sharing his success with the great people he met along the way.
He was much loved by his family and many friends. He will be remembered for his generosity and northern sense of humour.
