Pennine Mencap - a local charity that provides opportunities for adults with learning disabilities in the community - has been rehearsing for an ambitious show ever staged by its Stage Right Performing Arts group.

Audiences are invited to follow the Baker and his wife's journey into the woods as they search for the precious objects needed to grant them their wish to start a family.

With the addition of their very own Rhodes Bank Choir vocals, this one-of-a-kind transformation from Sondheim’s musical is not one to be missed.

The service users chose what type of production they wanted, and the vote was unanimous: “a full-scale musical” And so, the audition process began.

After the success of their last show, ‘A Night at the Musicals’ Stage Right Performing Arts hit the ground running.

Rehearsals have been in full swing for months, nailing the character development has been key in creating an immersive experience.

Karl Popko, who will be starring as Jack, said: “All the rehearsals we have done have led to this; it's our best show yet.

“I can't wait for the audience to enjoy it,” enthuses Adrian Pallett – one of the founding members of Stage Right back in 2012.

This is just a small insight into the sentiment of what this production means, as well as the effort everyone has put into this show to make it the best one yet.

“Into the Woods has pushed our service users further than they have ever gone, producing work better than ever!” Said Tom Morris, an activity coordinator for the Charity, the ability to pick up on new techniques and challenge their acting skills is vital in improving theatrical confidence and having increased certitude with putting on a show.”

With only a few weeks to go, the excitement is growing within the group, and chatter is high about attracting audiences to enjoy this amazing show.

Audiences can watch the enchanting performance and get lost in this warped fairytale, witness the fabulous fantasy-based costumes, as well as some more humorous parts of the show.

Tickets are available for purchase via the Pennine Mencap website, where you can guarantee a seat to “a journey into the woods” with their performers.
