A 37-year-old man charged with the attempted murder of a nurse at Royal Oldham Hospital has appeared in court today (Friday).
Romon Haque, of Yasmin Gardens, Royton, appeared at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court only to confirm his name and date of birth.
Haque is charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article, namely a pair of scissors.
The charges are in relation to an incident in which a nurse in her 50s, previously named in court as Achamma Cherian, was stabbed in the Acute Medical Unit at Royal Oldham Hospital where she was working on January 11 at around 11.30pm.
The woman's injuries were previously described as 'life-changing'.
Haque, represented by Mark Phillip Fireman, appeared in court over a video link wearing a grey jumper for the brief hearing.
Haque did not enter a plea, but Judge Maurice Greene set a preliminary trial date for July 14, 2025.
