Royal Oldham Hospital laundry team scoop prestigious industry award

The laundry team at The Royal Oldham Hospital are celebrating after scooping a prestigious award at this year's Laundry and Dry Cleaning Awards.

The LADA Awards celebrate the exceptional talent and achievements of teams within the textile care, laundry and dry cleaning industry.

The awards are open to all sectors and recognise companies, individuals, services and products that stand out from the crowd, and which offer an excellent standard of customer service and professionalism to the industry.

The Royal Oldham laundry team scooped the award for ‘Commercial Laundry of the Year’ from a field of strong competitors; a fantastic achievement in what has undoubtedly been a challenging year.

The laundry team were nominated for the national award by laundry industry organisations and were judged by a respected panel of tough industry professionals on the quality of the services they provide.

The team were finally announced as ‘Commercial Laundry of the Year’ after a rigorous assessment process at a virtual industry awards ceremony held on 26 November.

Steven Moss, Estates and Facilities Commercial Services Manager at The Royal Oldham Hospital, said: “The LADA Awards are one of the laundry industry’s most prestigious and competitive awards and we are absolutely thrilled to have won an award. The laundry industry is a competitive industry and the standard of entries is incredibly high. To be a finalist and win an award is a fantastic achievement.

“I’m incredibly proud of the laundry team and what they’ve achieved. The work they do is tough, but they’ve risen to the challenge to deliver an excellent service to all our customers, and their achievements have been recognised with this prestigious award.”

  • Chesterfield v Latics: bad and good news

Let’s start with the bad news. James Reade, economics professor at Reading university, has been in touch about my assertion last week that Latics require 1.8333 points per game to reach 71 points. By his calculations, which are far more trustworthy than mine – who says you won’t amount to anything without GCSE maths? – Latics will need more than 71 points to clinch seventh place this season. Professor Reade reckons the target is a minimum of 74 points.
