Potholes at a major junction on the border of Oldham and Rochdale have sparked anger.
Councillor Dylan Williams, who represents East Middleton at Rochdale town hall, says he has become frustrated with a lack of action on crumbling road surfaces between the two boroughs.
Despite being the highways boss for the council, he says there is nothing he can do about it as the potholes in question are metres over the border into Oldham.
The problem is at the junction where Greengate meets Grimshaw Lane – near a ‘Welcome to Rochdale’ – on the route into Middleton junction.
Coun Williams says more needs to be done by Oldham council, adding: “They marked it up for repair in around March and then never been back since. The bus rattles like mad when they go over it and so do cars.
“It is in Oldham’s boundary, they accept it’s in their boundary. With them having no leader, there is no one to complain to other than the council officers themselves.”
Oldham council said: “We are aware of concerns about potholes at this location and can confirm that our highways team has inspected the area.
“The site is being considered for future planned repair works, subject to priorities across the borough.”
