With the fire still raging at Dovestone Reservoir, the firefighters tackling the blaze have thanked people for their support.
Firefighters and other volunteers are still battling to contain the wildfire blazing at Dovestone Reservoir. However, the Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service (GMFRS) have taken time out to thank residents for their "continued support".
People have been donating generously to the effort, but GMFRS said:
"Our firefighters have everything they need to carry out their response to this incident safely, and we are not asking for any donations of food, drinks or equipment."
They have further stated that "the best way you can support our crews is by avoiding the area, following public safety advice and allowing emergency services and partner agencies to continue their work."
The Dovestone Reservoir fire has been burning since Saturday (July 11th) and continues to send smoke across the area. One person has already been arrested and charged in connection with the blaze, with Greater Manchester Police (GMP) actively seeking to identify other individuals who may have been involved.
