A Medlock Vale Neighbourhood Police Community Support Officer has scooped a special award for his passion, dedication and knowledge of the community he serves.

Sunday Aghomon was presented with the PCSO of the Year accolade for always being visible in his community of Medlock Vale and walking for miles to help those in need.

As a result of his dedication, his face and name are known to everyone on his beat, and he is known as ‘PC Sunday’.

He has also used his links in the community to set up police surgeries in Bardsley in Medlock Vale.

A spokesperson for Oldham Police said: “His interactions with young people in the area have been invaluable, he regularly attends the local youth club, giving talks on knife crime and other initiatives.

“Sunday is a larger-than-life character who works with a smile on his face, an infectious personality and an unparalleled dedication to the area of his work.”
