First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO) has been shortlisted in three categories at the prestigious Northern Housing Awards taking place next month in Manchester.
The housing association has a chance to win the Northern Housing Partnership of the Year Award for its Greater & Greener project link-up with the National Trust to improve biodiversity in communities.
FCHO’s flagship West Vale scheme of 62 apartments for affordable rent and 26 shared ownership homes at Coldhurst (pictured below) is also shortlisted in the Best Affordable Housing Development (£10m-£20m).
It is also in the running to win the Best Retrofit Initiative or Project for a £5.4 million two-year scheme to improve the energy efficiency and comfort of 470 properties in Failsworth, Chadderton, Shaw and Royton.

“These are well respected regional awards and having FCHO shortlisted in three categories is a great boost and a clear validation of how well the business is delivering for its customers and communities,” said Chief Executive Mark Gifford.
“Many thanks to all colleagues for the tremendous work they have put in delivering these projects that are making a difference whether that is safe and secure affordable homes or ensuring the places our customers live are cleaner, greener and more welcoming.
“It will be fingers crossed on the night to see if we are winners. They are big awards with strong contenders shortlisted so best of luck to everyone involved," he added.
The awards are taking place at The Kimpton Clocktower in Manchester on May 21.
