Oldham Mountain Rescue Team’s third call out of the week came on Thursday in the early evening, when Greater Manchester Police requested assistance with three walkers at Dove Stone as one member of the group was unable to continue.
Using SARLOC phone find technology, the team confirmed the group’s location at Ashway Rocks and quickly deployed a team to assist.
Upon arrival, the Remote Rescue Medical Technician assessed the group, finding them cold, with the casualty suffering from hypothermia and ongoing cramp.
The casualty was insulated in a casualty blanket and transported by stretcher down to the nearby fence line.
From there, an off-road Honda Pioneer transferred them safely down to a waiting ambulance for onward care.
Thirteen team members were involved for two hours and 30 minutes.
