A Chadderton man in his 40s and a woman in her 20s who were arrested on suspicion of child neglect following the death of a baby have been bailed pending further investigation.
Police were called to an address on Nelson Way, Oldham, at around 12.57pm on Sunday, February 9, 2025, following reports of concern for the welfare of a baby.
Despite the best efforts of the emergency services in attendance, sadly, the baby believed to be five weeks old, died.
Detective Superintendent Matthew Walker from Oldham district said: “We have taken the decision to bail the two arrested individuals while we continue our investigations into how this young baby died.
“Getting answers for this baby and her loved ones is paramount and that is at the heart of everything we do.
“We are still awaiting the results from a post-mortem examination. I want to stress that we are not treating this case as a murder or homicide investigation.”
