North West Ambulance Service requested Oldham Mountain Rescue Team assistance with the evacuation of a young female.
She had fallen from her horse while riding in the quarries at Brushes in Shaw, sustaining potential leg and back injuries on Friday (17 February).
As the team arrived, the crew on scene had carried out a medical assessment and treatment, so they packaged her in their vacuum mattress and stretcher for the short carry up the hill to the ambulance.
From there she was taken to hospital for further assessment and treatment.
Rob Tortoishell, OMRT’s leader, said: “Well done to the friends and family of the casualty for looking after her and keeping her warm.
“And thank you to the gentleman who was a member of Friends of Crompton Moor, who opened the gates for the emergency vehicles. We wish the young lady all the best for a speedy recovery.”
TransPennine Express (TPE) customers can now donate their Delay Repay compensation to three coastal rescue charities – the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), St Abbs Lifeboat and Humber Rescue – turning train delays into life-saving support for communities along the coast.
Oldham residents looking for their next career move are invited to meet local and regional employers, discover job opportunities, and get expert advice at this year’s Oldham Jobs Fair.
Oldham town centre is dead.
At least, that’s what comments online seem to say. Scroll down under any story or Facebook post regarding what was once the borough’s thriving centrepoint, and you’ll quickly stumble upon a disgruntled resident claiming the town is ‘beyond saving’ or that they’ve ‘not been there for years’.
During the day, the Empire Suite in Oldham looks unassuming. Overshadowed by a busy mechanics garage on the industrial end of a street of terraced houses, the wedding venue sits back from the road, shutters down, quiet.
